Additional federal assistance allotted to the neediest in Massachusetts ends for 642,000 households in 15 days, on March 2. Overall, Massachusetts stands to lose $90 million a month paid directly to the state's neediest households. Massachusetts receives $306 million a month from the federal government, roughly $3 billion a year. The loss of the emergency supplemental assistances to Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program beneficiaries will lower Massachusetts' share to $2.4-$2.5 billion a year.
